:I think you have to understand something: Qazaaq, Haama, and I have been the ''only'' significant editors of the CS Wiki for years now. The CS Wiki does not make considerable use of Templates, because we didn't know how to use them at first either, but now, oh lord do we wish that they did. A lot of your points assume that pages will be maintained by actual human beings, which ideally is absolutely true and that's what we want. And Templates may prevent that. ''But'' from where we are coming from - doing things the way we want to make our lives easier later, seems perfectly appropriate. Because we anticipate a time when once again, no one else is interested in improving the Wiki. Everyone ''uses it'', but very few contribute. Fallout's still new, so there's still activity here. Six months from now? A year? Two? I don't know. Maybe Fallout will do better than Oblivion in that regard. But at least for us, there's not a lot of hope in that direction. | :I think you have to understand something: Qazaaq, Haama, and I have been the ''only'' significant editors of the CS Wiki for years now. ::''Really'' good point. So good, it stomps prettymuch any potential argument against. Will I still edit in 12 months? No, I'm a flash-in-the-pan worker, not a long-haul worker, so I can't argue with that point at all. And even if you had the world's most awesome bots and regex wizards and root access to the server and DB, I can't see any other low-maintenance way of doing what templates do. They're imperfect, but they're better than the alternative. In that case, I guess I'll learn the lingo and try to help as much as I can before my inevitable running out of steam.
