"Regulating"[edit source]

We need someone to police these links. On the one hand, it's valuable to have some links available. However, I do not want to turn this into free advertising for every start-up modsite. I have no idea how large a site Third Fallout is (don't speak German), but I only want it on this list if it really is a major German FO3 modsite.

Actually, mod hosts really don't seem appropriate here anyway. There should be a stickied list in the forums, as their was for Oblivion, and we can link to that. What we should have are links to other sites with tutorials. One of the CSwiki's biggest problems (IMO) is the lack of appropriate linking to other resources available.

Putting the page through Google's translator, a Geck tutorial was added on 12-27. Otherwise, it seems like a small mod host.
In a more general sense, TESNexus (and possibly PES) should stay up because it offers mod utilities (as well as tutorials). We might want to point to those categories specifically, but they are useful for mod making.

Then again, any mod utilities should have pages in the Mod Tools category, and link to the primary download sites.

I don't think we need links to mod sites at all. External tutorials can be listed here instead.
And something else; Are we going to allow links to sites in another language? Maybe they should get their own category or subpage.

Agreed, completely. I'm going to remove all of these, and link to specific tutorial sections on Nexus.
DragoonWraith · talk · 18:44, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay, sorry for that. I linked now directly to the tutorial-section at TF. I hope this is alright.

Well... what's on it? Again, I can't read German, so I can't really say if it is alright or not. The standards for this list would be pretty high - how much content on modding Fallout 3 do they have? Is this a major German modding site, or does it have a lot of information, maybe stuff we don't have here?

Should we really be so picky as to judge the "quality" of the sites linked to here? I mean, having nothing to do with fallout 3 would be one thing, but whats the big deal if it only has some basic things in it? On a side note, do we really want to link to this links page in the "getting started" category? That seems to imply that the links are useful as beginner tutorials, where as I am assuming the intent of this page was originally just to point to some other useful websites within the greater fallout community.--SnakeChomp 21:01, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
There are three tutorials so far, fourth one is in progress. They cover the basics of interior building and there's an introduction to scripting. A fourth one is in the making that will cover world building. The writing is very good, but the tutorials only cover the basics. I see no reason not to list it here.

Echoing SnakeChomp, no need to judge the site - it's a link so "at your own risk" is implicit, I doubt there will be many personal sites, and alternatives are always good.
And in particular, are there any IRC channels yet? Should we link to the one for Oblivion?

I'm going to add DarksideMoonbase.com to this page as I host my Fallout 3 tutorials there. If this is not appropriate someone please let me know and/or edit the page to remove my link. I'm also adding Novazone as it has a couple in-depth tutorials along with tutorial videos. Thanks.
