Were the heck it it?

The most common asked question is WHERE IS IT? You would think it would be in the fallout 3 folder along with everything else in the BethesdaSoftworks folder. However, nothing could actually be that simple. It is found in the OTHER fallout 3 folder under:

My Documents/My Games/Fallout 3/GeckCustom.ini

Further this file typically can not be found under a normal search in windows which is why it was so frustrating to find. Technology is great when it works. Hope this helps.

One more note. Almost everyone who looks for the file is doing so because they want to edit it. Its set to read only so make sure that not only is it set to not be 'READ ONLY' (in the right click menu, but also make sure you set the permissions to edit it in the security tab located:

right click menu --> security tab--> permissions.

This was for Windows Vista for sure. Not sure about other windows products. Security is only good if it doesn't stop you from using it either.
