GECK won't startEdit
Hi. Like my name says, I'm a noob when it comes to modding. I'm pretty proficient in modding oblivion, though I do have a lot of problems (though I've learned alot.) Anyways, I downloaded the GECK, and I hate to have to say this, but I can't get it to open. It always says that redownloading it may help, and I've done that several times. Also, I've downloaded the patch. Anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks. TheNoobModder 20:07, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hi TheNoobModder, welcome to the wiki. As you may have noticed, I've marked the page you created for deletion and moved its content here. New pages should only be created for new content, whereas talk pages are good for asking questions. Your user talk page is a good place for asking questions not related to a specific article, as are the Forums. Also, please sign your posts on talk pages with ~~~~, which will automatically sign them with a timestamp as well as your username.
The usual reason why the GECK won't run is that it has been installed in the wrong place, which results in a "missing dll" error message. You need to make sure that you've installed the GECK in the same folder as your Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas game. If this doesn't seem to be the issue, could you describe what exactly happens when you try to open the GECK?

No, it didn't work. I tried uninstalling it and Fallout (3, by the way, not sure if that makes a difference), then installing them both again in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3' and it still doesn't work. It pops up with a window that says Geck.exe - 'Unable To Locate Component' at the top, and in the window proper, it says 'This application has failed to start because SSCE5432.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.' Like I said, I've done this several times, including my most recent attempt at opening it. I'm not sure if it's me, the computer, or the program, though I doubt it's the program, seeing as how other people are able to use it. Thanks! TheNoobModder 20:30, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
